Obituary for Bernard "Bernie" Klawinski

Bernard J. “Bernie” Klawinski. husband and father, 91, of Greensburg, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Monday, September 17, 2018. He was born March 18, 1927, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Joseph and Helen Kotewicz Klawinski. He faithfully served his country in the US Army during WWII, in Italy. Bernie attended Duquesne University and the Pepsi-Cola Management Institute. Bernie had a long and successful career with Pepsi-Cola in sales and marketing including Vice President/General Manager of Pittsburgh operations and Division Manager of Western Michigan operations. He retired as General Manager of Kecksburg operations. He also served for 25 years as chairman and manager trustee for the Southwestern Pa./Western Md. Pension Fund and Local 491 Health and Welfare Fund of Uniontown, Pa. Civic and community involvement included director of Go Greensburg, 1960 March of Dimes Honoree, and charity work with St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was a member of the Sales and Marketing Executives of Pa. Bernie loved to golf; and, he enjoyed memberships at Greensburg County Club and Ligonier Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alice Emmerling Klawinski; a daughter, Nancy (Adam) Greece; a son, Mark (Jody) Klawinski; and three grandchildren: Rebecca (Paul) DiGeorgio, Tyler Klawinski, and Nathan Klawinski. A funeral liturgy outside of Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace Church, 1001 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Greensburg. PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Private inurnment will be in St. Wendelin Cemetery, Carrick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to a charity of one’s choice.
